Sonae-mono
   Things offered; offerings. Offerings take many forms including cloth, symbolic offerings, sake and performances of rites. Shinto food offerings (shinsen) tend to be strong, raw and salty items including fish and game, in contrast to the 'sweet' and normally vegetarian offerings made to the Buddhas and ancestors (hotoke).
