Otori-zukuri

Otori-zukuri
The style of shrine construction (-zukuri) represented by the Otori shrine in Osaka (the original of which was destroyed by fire in 1905) which enshrines Ame-no-koyane, ancestor of the Fujiwara family. It is a smaller version of the sumiyoshi style and a development of the taisha-zukuri, with straight-line rather than slightly concave roof sides. The shrine includes honden and norito-den.
